‘I love how this team is playing’ – Kulusevski excited for new season with Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur got off to a flyer in the 2022/23 Premier League season yesterday with a 4-1 victory over Southampton, and Dejan Kulusevski seems to be having a blast.

Having joined from Juventus in January, this is the Swede’s first pre-season and first start to a campaign with Tottenham, but he hadn’t taken long to get up to speed.

Kulusevski delivered a perfect cross for Sessegnon to nod home at the back post yesterday, just after Spurs had conceded the opener to Ward-Prowse and were struggling to create chances.

The right-winger also put the icing on the cake for Conte’s side, sweeping a left-footed shot into the bottom corner to make it four and send the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into summer-time celebration.

When asked about the match and starting the season with Spurs, the former Juventus star revealed how much he is enjoying his football in N17, while also previewing the huge derby against Chelsea next time out.

Dejan Kulusevski said (BBC Sport live blog – 06/08/22 at 16:59): “We are very pleased – it wasn’t an easy game.

“Going behind at home isn’t nice and after we scored we could have scored a lot more. I love how this team is playing because we create a lot of chances and the fans are enjoying it and I like playing.

“I’ve missed playing. It is so nice to be back in front of the fans and the family and I really enjoyed it.

“We have a lot of days before the next game so we’ll be able to recover and train ahead of the next game because Chelsea are an amazing team and it will be a tough game.”
