‘I love Mourinho’ – Jack Wilshere responds when asked if he would join Spurs

Jack Wilshere has insisted that he would not join Tottenham Hotspur if they came in for him due to his Arsenal connections, despite professing love for Jose Mourinho.

There was no love lost between Spurs fans and Wilshere during his time at Arsenal, with the midfielder often cheerleading anti-Tottenham chants.

The midfielder was tipped to reach the top when he broke through the academy at Arsenal but he has failed to reach his potential, partly due to injury problems.

Now 28, the England international is without a club, having been released by West Ham.

In an interview with The Super 6 Podcast, the midfielder opened up on his dislike for Spurs and admitted that half his family, his mother’s side, are Tottenham fans (staring at 20:55 in the interview).

He revealed that his uncle, a die-hard Spurs fan, refused to even watch him play until he left the Gunners.

When asked if he would consider moving to Tottenham if they came in for him, the midfielder responded: “Ah I love Mourinho as well, I think he’s an unbelievable coach.

“But I don’t think I could do it! Let’s be honest as well, they wouldn’t have me!

“I don’t think I could, to be honest. It’s not as if Arsenal got rid of me and kicked me out and there is bad feeling, they offered me a deal and I wanted to try something else. I am an Arsenal man.”
