‘I made a mistake’ – Lucas Moura sends heartfelt apology to Spurs fans after red card

Lucas Moura has taken to social media to apologise to the fans after his late red card against Everton.

Tottenham had a great chance to come away with all three points from Goodison Park and to move into third place in the Premier League table as they were a goal up and had a man advantage with just a few minutes left on the clock.

However, Moura produced a rash challenge on Michael Keane in the 86th minute, just minutes after he came on for Son Heung-min, which cancelled out the away side’s numerical superiority as referee David Coote gave the 30-year-old his marching orders.

Keane then produced a long-range screamer in the final minute of normal time to draw the score level and to ensure that the spoils were shared.

Moura has now taken to social media to admit that he made a mistake but he insisted that he did not have any malicious intent.

The former PSG man also vowed to give his all in a Spurs shirt until his final day at the club.

Moura was just caught up in the heat of the battle and his intention clearly was not to leave one on Keane.

Besides, we certainly did not deserve to come away with all three points on the back of the second-half performance we produced.
