‘I miss you’ – Player who left Spurs in 2021 sends a message to the fans

On the nine-year anniversary of Erik Lamela’s rabona goal in the Europa League, the Argentine has taken to social media to tell Tottenham fans that he misses them.

Lamela made 257 appearances in his eight years at Tottenham after arriving from AS Roma in 2013, scoring 37 goals and providing 47 assists during his time in North London (Transfermarkt).

The winger had more than his fair share of injury troubles during his time at Spurs and was not always a fixture in the starting eleven when he was fit but he was a fan-favourite, thanks to the fight he showed on the pitch, and he gave supporters some memorable moments during his time at the club.

Among those were two brilliant rabona goals, the second of which came in the North London Derby and won the Puskas.

However, it was the first of the two, which came in the Europa League against Asteras Tripolis back in 2014, that was arguably the better goal.

Erik Lamela misses his Tottenham family

Monday was the ninth anniversary of the strike and the Sevilla star took to Instagram story to write: “9 years! I miss you @Spursofficial. Good luck tonight.”

Spurs went on to win 2-0 against Fulham, so perhaps Lamela’s luck really did come in handy.

How Lamela managed to get as much power on that Robona strike still remains a complete mystery to me. We might never see a goal like that one ever again.
