‘I promise you’ – Joe Rodon insists Spurs teammate will become future manager

Joe Rodon has insisted Tottenham teammate Ben Davies will become a manager at the end of his playing career.

Davies has been a fixture in the Spurs fold since Antonio Conte took control of the dugout in early November.

The 28-year-old has featured in all but one Premier League game under the Italian head coach (Transfermarkt) having taken up a role on the left side of a defensive three.

Davies and fellow defender Rodon, taking part in a Q&A session, were quizzed on which of them was the most likely to enter management at the end of their playing days.

And Rodon didn’t hesitate in giving his answer, stating his confidence that his Welsh compatriot would become a manager at some point in the future.

He told the club’s YouTube official channel: “Oh my god he’s going to be a manager. He will be a manager one day I promise you. [Turning to Davies] Genuinely you will be a manager, I promise.”

Davies replied: “Yes maybe. We’ll see. Will you be part of my staff?”

Rodon added: “I’ll be your head of recruitment.”

Davies does seem the type to study the game closely and he could work towards being a manager if he wants to at the end of his career.

Learning the skills of management under Conte would also be a big plus and he could use the Italian’s style as something to build off if that is the career path he chooses to go down.
