‘I really like’ – Jose Mourinho throws support behind Eric Dier

Jose Mourinho has now thrown his support behind Eric Dier despite dropping the central defender for multiple matches this week.

Dan Kilpatrick reported that Mourinho talked about Dier in his Man City pre-match press conference today, claiming that he supports and trusts him.

The Spurs head coach added that he likes Dier because he remains the same in the difficult moments and in the easy moments.

Despite being dropped recently, Dier has played 25 matches across all competitions for Tottenham so far this season, including 19 in the Premier League (TransferMarkt).

However, it was the England defender’s mistake against Chelsea that cost Spurs the game as he chopped away Timo Werner’s legs and gave away a penalty.

The Lilywhites went on the lose the game 1-0 and Mourinho subsequently dropped Dier for the matches against West Brom and Everton.

Spurs beat West Brom 2-0 with a solid display at the back, but a central duo of Toby Alderweireld and Davinsin Sanchez conceded five against Everton in the FA Cup.

On Dier, Mourinho said (Dan Kilpatrick): “Eric is one of the guys that I really like. He’s always Eric… Difficult moments, easier moments.”
