Valencia star Hugo Guillamon has revealed that he messaged Bryan Gil in January once he heard rumours of a potential return to La Liga.
Gil was part of a Tottenham exodus in the winter window, joining Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso in loan exits, while Dele Alli left for Everton on a permanent deal.
The Spanish winger has certainly hit the ground running on the return to his home country, already playing far more regularly for Valencia than he did in six months at Spurs (TransferMarkt).
The Daily Star reported recently that Gil may get the chance to remain at Valencia for another season, although he is currently due to return to Tottenham in June.
Guillamon has revealed he sent a message to Gil telling him not to hesitate over a transfer to Valencia for the remainder of the season and, in hindsight, that appears to have been good advice.
He said (Radio Marca – via Sport Witness): “I sent Bryan Gil a message when the rumours of his arrival began to come out. I told him not to hesitate for a moment so that he would sign for Valencia in the winter.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
The Gil loan move has been great for all involved. However, I can’t help but feel a loan to an English club would have benefited him more, unless Spurs just want to send him back to Spain and turn a profit on him.
