‘I think he does’ – Rio Ferdinand makes prediction about Harry Kane’s future

Rio Ferdinand has backed Manchester City to reignite their interest in Harry Kane in the summer after the Tottenham striker’s Man of the Match display at the Etihad last Saturday.

Kane served a timely reminder that he remains one of the best strikers in world football as he put in a masterclass against the Premier League champions, scoring two goals and displaying superb hold up play and vision in Tottenham’s 3-2 win.

It has been reported this week that the striker wants assurances that Tottenham will back Antonio Conte in the transfer market before committing his future to the club (The Sun).

This was also reinforced by Fabrizio Romano, who claimed that despite Conte wanting the 28-year-old to stay as the ‘star’ of his project, the England captain will not make a decision on his future for the time being.

Ferdinand believes Man City will look to complete a cut-price deal for the striker when the transfer window reopens.

The Man Utd legend said the Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube channel: “I think after seeing that after the weekend, yeah. I think he does, I think he goes back in.

“Get a cut-price fee, £70mish, which in today’s market is like £5m back in my day. I reckon he does. If City buy him, they clean up again.”

City might well reignite their interest in Kane as the 28-year-old would be a perfect fit for Guardiola’s system given his ability to operate as a false nine as well as his proficiency in front of goal. However, there is no chance that Levy would sell the striker for less than £100m in the summer.
