‘I think he wants to stay’ – Serie A owner on future of Spurs-linked forward

Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso believes that Dusan Vlahovic wants to stay at the club.

Vlahovic had been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham before the window closed with Alasdair Gold even revealing on the August 16th episode of the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast that the 21-year-old was Fabio Paratici’s number one strike target this summer.

A move failed to materialise for the Serbian international, who has two years left to run on his current contract in Florence (transfermarkt).

Vlahovich, who moved to Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in July 2018, finished as Serie A’s fourth-highest scorer after netting 21 goals in 37 top-flight games last season (transfermarkt).

Commisso told TuttoMercatoWeb yesterday when asked about the future of the forward ahead of Serbia’s match against the Republic of Ireland: “I think he wants to stay and I hope he gets his contract. Now let’s see when he comes back, let’s hope he plays tonight. I also talked to Amrabat and Maleh.”

Vlahovic would have been a brilliant signing for Tottenham, given the impressive tally he notched in Italy last season.

A front two of Kane and Vlahovic would have given an extra dimension to Nuno’s attacking options, instead, the club failed to bring in attacking cover after sending Carlos Vinicius back to Benfica.
