“I think Spurs should try and get him” – Jamie O’Hara calls for Tottenham to land 28-year-old

Jamie O’Hara believes that Southampton striker Danny Ings would be the ‘perfect fit’ for Tottenham Hotspur.

The England international was linked with a move to North London earlier this week with Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho said to be a huge fan of the forward (The Sun).

The 28-year-old has 18 months left to run on his contract at St Mary’s and is said to be keeping his options open such is his desire to play Champions League football.

Mourinho distanced himself from the rumours at Friday’s press conference having claimed that he already has the best striker in the world and is also happy with the impact which Carlos Vinicius has had at the club following his season long loan move from Portuguese giants Benfica.

O’Hara suggested that Spurs should look to sign the former Liverpool player and could play in the same side as Harry Kane, given the role in which the England captain now operates.

O’Hara told talkSPORT (January 21, 8.30am): “Danny Ings, I really like him. I think he’d be a perfect fit for Man City, for Spurs, for Arsenal – he could play in a top six side for sure. He’s obviously a very talented footballer,”

“I think Spurs should try and get him.

“Harry Kane, in this system, is basically a number ten so he’d just drop in as a number ten (and play alongside Ings). He doesn’t play as a ‘proper’ centre-forward in this system.

“I like Carlos Vinicius but Ings is much better. Ings would be a good signing because the only player who really gets beyond (the striker) is (Heung-Min) Son.”
