‘I think the news is not good’ – Pochettino comments on Hugo Lloris injury

Tottenham Hotspur would have been hoping to bounce back after that embarrassing 7-2 defeat to Bayern in mid-week as they took on Brighton away today.

However, Spurs were 1-0 down within a couple of minutes of the early kick-off, as a Brighton cross turned into a shot and left Lloris back-peddling.

Instead of tipping the ball over, Hugo attempted to catch it, before releasing it as he realised that his momentum could carry the ball over the line.

Unfortunately, the Brighton forward was there to tap the ball home ahead of Alderweireld and Vertonghen, making it 1-0 to the home side.

However, the more shocking scenes came as Lloris fell back into the net and landed awkwardly on his arm, with replays showing the limb bending in a nasty fashion.

Lloris was, of course, replaced by Gazzaniga after receiving oxygen on the pitch and was later taken to hospital. Poch has now given the latest update.

Pochettino said (Football London): “I think the news is not good. We have to wait, they are going to explain the real situation. Everyone saw on the pitch when he landed that it wasn’t a good situation.”
