‘I try to keep that going’ – Pape Matar Sarr opens up on his life of smiles and laughter

Pape Matar Sarr believes it is important to fill your day with smiling and laughter, even under the pressure of being a Premier League football at Tottenham Hotspur.

Ever since he arrived in North London, Sarr garnered a reputation for being a happy-go-lucky character, much like a young Heung-min Son when he first joined the Lilywhites.

Spurs fans have spotted a number of the first-team stars picking on Sarr over recent weeks, and showing affection towards the 21-year-old. It appears you simply can’t help but gravitate towards and get along with the Senegal starlet.

Sarr has been on fire for Tottenham this season, with the youngster putting James Maddison’s opener on an absolute plate against Aston Villa on Sunday.

If Spurs can continue their march towards Champions League football next season, Sarr will have plenty to smile about. Remember, the youngster burst onto the scene at the San Siro in his last taste of elite European football.

Pape Matar Sarr plans to keep on smiling

Sarr told The Mirror: “I’m a smiley person, happy-go-lucky. When I was at my academy in Senegal, we were a bunch of young guys, basically locked away. The way of life we had was great, to be honest, we didn’t have too much access to mobile phones.

“We had lots of laughs together, we had to entertain ourselves, joking around. I try to keep that going, because I think to be smiling and full of joy in everyday life is important.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Having these kinds of happy-go-lucky characters around the squad must be so valuable. Sonny and Sarr have the ability to make people smile no matter the circumstances and you need that through a long season.
