‘I want to play at a high level’ – Troy Parrott reveals his desire to improve form at MK Dons

Troy Parrott has been speaking about how he has helped to get his form back on track at MK Dons.

The Republic of Ireland international joined the League One side on a season-long loan deal in July (MK Dons).

Parrott had previously enjoyed a taste of first-team football at both Ipswich Town and Millwall last season, having made 29 appearances for both clubs in all competitions.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a good start at Stadium MK, but admitted by his own standards that his form dropped off in the middle of the campaign.

Parrott admits that he has not changed any aspect of his game, but has instead reinforced his desire to play at a high level and is instead believing in his own talent to help put in the hard yards to get opportunities in front of goal.

The Spurs academy product has scored four goals in 34 appearances in all competitions for MK Dons this season, while delivering six assists (transfermarkt).

Parrott told the official MK Dons Twitter channel ahead of today’s match against Rotherham: “I was doing well at the start of the season, and if I’m being honest, I fell off a little bit into the middle of the season, there was no one thing that changed.

“But I just realised I couldn’t sit around and let it go by. I needed to make every time I was on the pitch count, and give it 110% every game.

“Ultimately, you get one shot at it, and I want to be a footballer. I want to play at a high level, and I realised that I couldn’t just let it go by.

“Form comes into it a little bit, and confidence. But I’ve come to terms with it.. If I run the way I do, and if I give it 110% the rest will look after itself.

“Form is temporary, and giving 110% every week is something that I can choose to do. It’s my choice if I want to do that every week or not. And that’s what I want to do.”

Parrott may have his work cut out to force his way into Antonio Conte’s first-team plans given his limited success in front of goal in League One, along with the fact that the Italian appears to hold Dane Scarlett in such high esteem.
