‘I was shocked’ – Spurs star opens up on meeting Ibrahimovic and Beckham

Lucas Moura has revealed that he was shocked the first time he met Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Beckham.

The Brazilian winger played with the duo during his time at Paris Saint-Germain, before eventually departing for Tottenham in January 2018.

Moura, who was one of the world’s most exciting attacking prospects, was signed by PSG as a 19-year-old back in the summer of 2012 as part of the club’s huge spending spree after being taken over by a Qatari-backed investment group.

The club signed Swedish icon Ibrahimovic from AC Milan earlier that summer, and later added English golden boy Beckham in January 2013 to their squad, which was already full to the brim of superstars.

Moura was part of the journey that took PSG to the top of French football and firmly onto the European stage, and he has now revealed it was an honour to share a dressing room with football royalty like Ibrahimovic and Beckham.

Revealing all to The Players’ Tribune, he said: “Becks! Man, what a top guy. I’m so happy to tell my kids that I played with David Beckham.

“I was shocked when I first met him and Ibra. These guys are superstars, and you kind of expect them to behave like that, you know?

“You think that perhaps they are a bit arrogant, and maybe they act as if they own the place. They could, because they’re so good. But then you realise that they’re just very hardworking and humble people.

“Beckham was so shy. He barely said anything. He would arrive quietly, settle down and just work. No fuss. That made a big impression on me, especially since I was so young, because it taught me how to behave.”

Moura was really part of a mammoth change at PSG being one of the multiple stars the club brought in after being taken over by Qatari investors. But now he can enjoy playing with the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son who are also superstars in their own right.
