It came as a huge shock when Spain boss Luis de la Fuente astoundingly decided not to name the Tottenham man in his 29-man preliminary squad for Euro 2024, which was released on Monday.

The Spurs man will understandably feel extremely aggrieved as he has had a stellar season for his club and has been part of all the recent Spain squads, delivering solid displays whenever he has been handed an opportunity.

The right-back would have been forgiven for thinking it was a foregone conclusion that he would be on his way to Germany. However, De la Fuente decided to leave him out, opting to go with the experience of Jesus Navas and Dani Carvajal instead.

Pedro Porro reacts to Spain Euros snub

Reacting to the announcement, Porro has said on X: “I was very excited about the possibility of being able to represent my country in the Euro Cup, but in the end it won’t be possible this time.

“Respect and admiration for all my colleagues who will be defending our colours. From here I will be one more supporting the team and I hope we have great joy. Come on guys.”

Porro has every right to feel extremely hard done by as he had undoubtedly had a much better season than both Carvajal and Navas. However, the 24-year-old has shown a lot of grace and class with his response, which is to be admired.
