‘I won’t pay’ – Bayern Munich honorary president calls Harry Kane rumours ‘completely gaga’

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has seemingly ruled out a potential move for Harry Kane in the summer by describing the transfer speculation as ‘complete gaga’.

The speculation over Kane’s future is understandably intensifying as we get closer to the summer transfer window and as Tottenham’s grip on fourth place continues to weaken.

The Sun reported on Monday that Manchester United believe they will be able to snap up the 29-year-old if Spurs fail to qualify for the Champions League.

The report further added that the Red Devils had spoken to the striker’s entourage through intermediaries and had been left encouraged by what they heard.

Meanwhile, the speculation linking Kane with a move to Bayern is not going away, with 90 min revealing a couple of days ago that the Bavarians want to add the Tottenham star to their squad in the summer despite tying down Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting down to a new deal.

However, Hoeness has now hinted that the England captain might not be a realistic target for Julian Nagelsmann’s side in the summer.

When asked about Bayern’s interest in Kane, he responded (via The Express): “I think the transfer is completely gaga.

“Last year [2021] Tottenham rejected 160 million euros from Manchester City.

“Do you think it’s cheaper this year?

“Harry Kane is a great player, no question about it. But that’s money I won’t pay.”

Even if Bayern were willing to meet Tottenham’s asking price for Kane, I doubt if the striker would want to leave the Premier League now that he is in touching distance of Alan Shearer’s record.

Manchester United appears to be the only realistic destination for the 29-year-old if he does decide to leave Spurs in the summer.
