‘I would leave’ – Club legend offers advice to striker linked with Tottenham

Torino legend, Patrizio Sala has offered advice to star striker Andrea Belotti, suggesting he should consider leaving the Italian club for a bigger side amidst reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur (TuttoMercatoWEB).

Belotti’s contract expires next summer in 2022, leaving plenty of speculation around the 27-year-old’s future.

The Italian international has been a star for Torino since signing in 2015, scoring a very impressive 105 goals in 228 games in all competitions.

The striker has also represented Italy 39 times, scoring 12 goals in the process.

The 27-year-old is fresh off winning Euro 2020, culminating 216 minutes throughout the tournament albeit struggling to cement a true starting place in Roberto Mancini’s side (Transfermarkt).

Belotti’s situation has seemingly raised eyebrows across Europe. Tottenham are said to be one of the teams who are keeping an eye on the situation (Corriere Granata).

London rivals Chelsea and West Ham are also among the suitors and fellow Serie A clubs in Roma and Napoli also have their eye on Belotti.

Torino legend Sala has suggested that Belotti will need more than money in order to be tempted to stay at the club.

He said: “I think it’s not a question of money.

“I would look at what the President proposes to me, what ambitions he has, what players he is signing.

“The contract can be a million more or less, but the President must show up. Not only with an economic commitment, but also indicating what the goal of Toro is.

“Belotti has not made a Europa League in six years. So I say, what we want to do? Other goals are also needed.

“If there are other clubs, I would go there for ambitions in any case. I hope they will keep him, but out of ambition I would leave.”

Belotti – with his contract situation – could make sense, especially if Nuno wants to play two up front. He is a great forward and it is probably the right time for him to test himself at a top, top club.
