Ian Wright has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur would be ‘crazy’ not to take up the option to sign Dejan Kulusevski permanently after the impact the winger has made since his arrival.
Kulusevski has arguably been the signing of the January transfer window, with the Swede having nine-goal contributions to his name in just 12 Premier League appearances since his move from Juventus (Transfermarkt).
The wide-man’s characteristics seem to complement those of Tottenham’s feared front duo – Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, and with the former Juve man still only 21 years of age, Spurs fans will be hoping that the best is yet to come from him.
Spurs paid £8m to sign Kulusevski on loan in January and have the option to make the deal permanent for an additional £25m this summer, which they are expected to trigger (Daily Mail).
Wright revealed he would not be surprised if Antonio Conte’s men had already triggered the option.
The Arsenal legend told Premier League Productions (16/04/22, 12:15 pm) about Kulusevski: “He just finds himself in space. So when he gets into space, he is very calm. Every time you see him, he’s going to be in space.
“That’s what the quality players do. When he has time and space, he’s going to hurt you because he has so much ability.

“It will be crazy if they don’t (trigger the purchase option). You see what he’s doing. Who wouldn’t take him? Doing what he’s doing now at the level he’s doing it at.
“They will definitely take it. That’s probably a deal I wouldn’t be surprised if they have already done it.”

I would not be surprised if Kulusevski evolves into a central striker over the coming years as he seems to possess the attributes to play in that role. Perhaps Conte will try the Swede out in a central role next season if Kane needs a rest.
