Ian Wright makes bold claim about where Spurs can finish in the table

Former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright has had his say on where he thinks Tottenham Hotspur will finish this season in the Premier league.

Spurs have undoubtedly strengthened over the summer, securing the services of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon – with Jack Clarke being loaned back out to former club Leeds United (Sky Sports).

Spurs’ summer transfer activity will definitely increase expectations amongst fans this year with many hoping a title challenge will be on the cards. After last season’s Champions League exploits, the Tottenham faithful will also be hoping for another long and successful European run.

Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live where he thinks Spurs will finish this season in the top flight: “For me, it’s not shocking, I think it is possible (top-two finish).

“You look at the Spurs team, especially with Ndombele, not sure what’s happening with Eriksen, Lo Celso.

“The fact is, they have to keep players fit.”

Spurs Web Opinion

As an ex-Arsenal player Wright is probably quite reluctant to say that Spurs could challenge for the league outright. However, I’d have to agree and say that Wright is on the right lines with his prediction. With the extra squad depth following the summer signings, we should be able to build up a similar run of momentum that we did in December last season. If we were to do so I’d fully expect us to finish closer to Liverpool and City this season.
