Ian Wright reveals what could make the ‘difference’ for Chelsea against Spurs

Ian Wright has suggested that Romelu Lukaku’s ability to score goals out of nothing is the main difference between Chelsea and Tottenham ahead of the London derby on Sunday.

Tottenham go into the clash against their London rivals as underdogs despite being at home, given the impressive manner in which Thomas Tuchel’s side have started the season.

Lukaku has hit the ground running in his second spell at Stamford Bridge and many see the Blues as one of the biggest challengers to Manchester City’s crown this season.

While Tottenham too had a promising start to the campaign, the embarrassing 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace last weekend has put some pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo, with Spurs fans now looking for a response from the side in the derby.

Wright has suggested that the addition of Lukaku over the summer has given Tuchel’s men a different edge as the Belgian is able to find the back of the net even if he is not too involved in a game.

The former Arsenal man said on The Kelly & Wrighty Show: “You are watching someone like Lukaku, hardly had touches in the game, but he has already got four goals in six games, and that’s the difference with Chelsea, is that Chelsea can now, if it is very tight, they have got the person to take the half chance.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Joe Rodon did not do too much wrong against Palace or Rennes, I fear that he could potentially be bullied by Lukaku if he starts on Sunday.

If Dier is not fit for the game, I would not be surprised to see Nuno start with a pairing of Romero and Sanchez, even though both players only return from Croatia a day before the game.
