Julian Nagelsmann has insisted that he will always speak his mind in press conferences after Antonio Conte accused the Bayern Munich boss of disrespecting Tottenham by speaking publicly about Harry Kane.

Amidst speculation linking Kane with a move to Bayern (Kicker), Naglesmann said last week that while he is a fan of the Tottenham man, the striker would be “too expensive” for the German club (Sky Sports).

The 35-year-old also added that the England captain would “score a lot of goals in the Bundesliga” and left the door open by stating “we will see what happens in the future”.

Naglesmann’s comments did not sit too well with Conte, who responded by suggesting that it was disrespectful to Spurs to speak about Kane, and insisted that the 29-year-old remains part of Tottenham’s project (Football.London).

The likes of Fabrizio Romano (CaughtOffside) and Alasdair Gold (Football.London) have since revealed that Tottenham have no intention of selling the striker this summer and that the North London club plan on offering a new contract to the player soon.

Nagelsmann has now played down the controversy and claimed that his relationship with the Spurs boss is good.

When asked about Conte’s comments, the German coach told 90 min: “I’ll always give my opinion in the future. I don’t write down all my answers before the press conference.

“It’s coming spontaneously, that’s maybe not always the smartest thing. I don’t have a problem with Conte or (Barcelona president) Laporta responding back, that’s part of the game. It wasn’t a dramatic statement, I have a good relationship with Conte.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Nagelsmann might be playing dumb here but I believe his comments about Kane were not just made off the cuff.

I believe it was a deliberate attempt by Bayern to let the Tottenham striker know that they will try to sign him next summer if he does not sign a new contract.

However, even if Spurs underachieve during the upcoming campaign and Kane does not sign a new deal, I do not see him moving to the Bundesliga.
