“I’ll start my best friends” – Some fans react to the Spurs team vs Leicester

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to share their reaction to Ryan Mason’s team selection for today’s match against Leicester City.

Beating sides above them in the table has proven to be problematic for Spurs having suffered seven straight defeats in fixtures against teams currently above them in the table.

Only Brighton (25) have dropped more points from winning positions than Tottenham this season (23), with Spurs losing 2-1 against Aston Villa last time out despite opening the scoring.

Harry Kane, who could be making his last appearance for the club today has scored more Premier League goals against Leicester than he has vs any other opponent (14 in 11 games). Seven of these goals have come in six games at the King Power Stadium, including a four-goal haul in May 2017.

Matt Doherty and Davinson Sanchez come into the starting eleven, while there is no place in the squad for Serge Aurier, Tanguy Ndombele or Moussa Sissoko.

Here is a selection of what the North London faithful had to say about the line up:

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. I just don’t understand Mason’s thinking (obviiusky we don’t know all the facts, fitness issues). Winks starting over Ndombele or Lo Celso, neither in the squad. Lo Celso has plenty of opportunites under Mason. Ndombele did have a poor game v Sheff Utd and was a bit lazy. Not played more than 15 mins as a sub since. Dier out, fine, but like to see Rodon, not Sanchez play. Has Levy said play Sanchez to help sell him. Doherty plays and he has to go in the summer too. He’s dreadful. Signing 28 year old players is risky. Unlike us. I predict 3-1 to Leicester today due to poor selection and our confidence on the floor. Much harder fixture than the Villa one we lost.

  2. What the hell is that line up? Seriously, Doherty, Winks and Bergwijn. Mason couldn’t put a better team out than that. We obviously don’t want to finish 7th.

  3. A worse state than when Jose was in charge. What a crock of poop. Everyone blamed Jose when it was clear the squad was the problem especially the defence. Clearly Jose hadnt lost the dressing room as there has been zero upturn in quality or commitment or effort. Kane told the truth Jose is a winner with a do anything and everything attitude to win the match and he expected the same discipline the same effort and commitment from his players and certain players couldnt hack it. They moaned and groaned to Levy blamed the performances on the manager blah blah blah just like poch thrown under the bus by a few losers who couldnt hack it. Levy has destroyed this club with his constant interfering undermining and never supporting the manager. Jose never had a chance with Levy around and nor does any manager
