“I’ll take him” – Some Spurs fans urge club to snap up Real Madrid player

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have urged the club to complete a deal for Real Madrid central defender Eder Militao, amidst reports linking him with a move to North London.

Spanish news outlet El Desmarque reported last week that Jose Mourinho was keen on bringing the defender to the Premier League.

It was revealed that the Spurs head coach has already contacted Madrid supremo Florentino Perez over Militao’s availability.

The 22-year-old defender signed for the Spanish giants just last summer from Porto, in a deal worth around £43.5 million (Guardian).

However, he has failed to hit the expected heights at the Santiago Bernabeu and has fallen down the pecking order.

It is suggested that Mourinho views the Brazilian as the ideal replacement for Jan Vertonghen with the Belgian’s contract in North London expiring at the end of the current season.

Some Spurs fans on social media opined that Militao would be a fine addition to the spurs backline after Diario AS reported that the young defender faces an uncertain future at the Spanish capital.

Militao’s talent and versatility might make him a terrific signing. However, it would also be quite a risky move as he is unproven in any of the top leagues. Having said that, Jose will likely know him well and if he believes that the young defender could improve our side, then the club should back him.
