‘I’m considering’ – Napoli boss provides positive update on Ndombele loan from Spurs

Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti, has provided a positive update on Tanguy Ndombele’s loan in Serie A, stating that the midfielder could be in line for more minutes.

After failing to impress in North London and enduring a somewhat stale return on loan to Lyon last season, Ndombele joined Napoli on a temporary deal last summer.

Although the Frenchman has seen his game time limited over in Italy, he is also on course to pick up a Serie A winners’ medal, with Napoli currently 18 points clear at the top of the table.

Napoli have a £30m option to buy Ndombele in the summer once his loan comes to an end (Football Insider), however, Il Mattino (06/03/23 as relayed by Sport Witness) reported that the Serie A side will only do so if the fee is lowered.

Spalletti has now insisted that Ndombele has always been ready when called upon, and he is thinking of using him more in the near future.

He said (Il Mio Napoli): “I agree, in the sense that he is a strong player and only the quality that Zielinski and Anguissa have shown in this period has not allowed him to play that much.

“He has strength, technique, he manages to get rid of his marker in one on ones, and the last few times I put him in, he was always ready.

“I’m considering using him. You read my mind.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be shocked if no one took a £20m/£25m punt on Tanguy Ndombele in the summer.

The midfielder has so much natural talent, if any coach is able to unlock the mental block he seems to have at times, they will have a world-beater on their hands.
