‘I’m not finished’ – Heung Min Son opens up about asking to leave the club in 2016

You have to go a long way to find a player more beloved by a fanbase, and even rival supporters, than Tottenham’s Heung Min Son.

Son’s style of football, with pace, two-footed finishing, and exciting attacking play is only enhanced by the fact he plays the game with a smile on his face.

However, it wasn’t always plain sailing for Sonny in North London, and the winger even asked to leave the club way back in 2016, just a year after arriving.

Spurs bought Son from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, but he endured a tricky first season, only scoring eight goals, which prompted him to request for a move back to Germany.

However, after being convinced to stay, Sonny has turned it around in England, and is now one of the finest players in his position in the League.

Despite his constant smiley face, Son admits that he has had difficult times in the past, but is determined to achieve more with Spurs.

He said (Mirror): “It was tough. It’s impossible to only have good times. Sometimes you have tough times to get better. Around me, the club, the coaching staff, the players, when I have a tough time they help me lots to be here right now. I’m really grateful for this situation and I’m not finished. I try to improve every day.”
