As if things weren’t bad enough for Tottenham Hotspur at the top end of the pitch, the club have now announced that Heung Min Son is to undergo surgery on his arm.
The South Korean managed to fracture his right arm early on in the game against Aston Villa, choosing to play on at the time and even netting a brace to win his side the game.
This news comes as Harry Kane is still returning from his own surgery after he ruptured the tendon in his left hamstring at the beginning of January during the loss at Southampton.
Spurs failed to sign any new strikers in the January window, despite having a full month to do so, and they now look to be paying the price.
Spurs claimed in their announcement that Son would be out for weeks, but Jose Mourinho seems doubtful that the 27-year-old will be back that soon.
The Special One hinted that Son may well be done for the season, or near enough.
He said (Football London): “I’m not going to count on him again this season. If he plays two or three games then it’s because he (his press officer) is very optimistic, but I’m not counting on him.”
