‘I’m not happy’ – Manager frustrated at situation of reported Spurs target

Fulham manager Marco Silva has revealed that he is unhappy with the rumours of uncertainty surrounding Tottenham target Fabio Carvalho.

Recent reports have claimed that Tottenham, alongside Liverpool and Southampton, have been holding a keen interest in the 19-year-old midfielder, who has recorded three goals and an assist in seven Championship matches this season.

Carvalho, whose contract at Craven Cottage expires at the end of the season, has also allegedly rejected a new deal from Fulham, meaning the Championship high-flyers are at risk of losing him for free.

Cottagers manager Silva has been open in expressing his thoughts on the teenager’s situation and is not entirely pleased with the rumours swirling around one of his players – especially as a younger member of his squad.

Silva said at a press conference earlier this week: “I don’t know what the people around him are advising him or not. For me, it is really strange.

“Because we are talking about a really young lad. I hope really they are taking care of (him) not just for the moment, not just to do a big contract, but about the boy of Fabio Carvalho.

“I repeat, I’m not happy with the situation and all of these rumours around him because he’s a young lad. To be honest I really believe in his talent. He started to play for the club under (me), but I would like the situation to be a different way.

“I would like the people taking care of his career to look for him not just for the moment, not just to do something special now, but for the future of this boy.”

Silva has every right to have concern about the rumours surrounding Carvalho, considering he is such a young player. For now, he is a Fulham player and the interested parties need to respect that when approaching a potential transfer.
