While Tottenham have been praised for their defensive display in their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, in reality, the hosts still fashioned several chances through the encounter and could have put the game out of sight by half time.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men did maintain a good defensive shape that made it difficult for the Reds to play through them but it looked ominous for the Lilywhites whenever the Liverpool players ran at the Spurs defence.

Tottenham’s full backs have come in for a lot of criticism on the back of the game with some Spurs fans on social media fuming at Danny Rose’s performance in particular.

The England international, who has been poor for both club and country this campaign, once again made several mistakes on Sunday and was partly at fault for Liverpool’s equaliser early in the second half due to his poor positioning.

Some Spurs fans insisted on the back of Rose’s showing on Sunday that his time at Spurs was now done.

Unfortunately, it looks like Rose is never likely to return to the player he was a couple of years ago which is he a shame as he was one of the best full backs in Europe from 2015 to 2017. At this moment, Ben Davies is far more reliable defensively and deserves to start ahead of Rose particularly in the big games.
