‘I’m proud of it’ – Harry Kane expressed his pride after win against Fulham

Harry Kane expressed his pride following Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 win against Fulham which saw the forward record his name once again in the record books.

The 29-year-old doubled Tottenham’s lead in the second half when he was on hand to tap home a Ryan Sessegnon cross from three yards out in the 75th minute of the encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The goal not only proved its importance as the matchwinner, but it also saw Kane equal the record for the most goals in London derbies.

The record was previously held outright by former Arsenal marksman Thierry Henry, with Kane now level with the Frenchman having scored his 43rd goal in Premier League capital clashes (Sky Sports).

Kane is also closing on Wayne Rooney’s second place in the top flight goalscoring charts, with the former United player having registered 208 goals compared to Kane’s 188 (Premier League).

Following the match which saw Spurs maintain their unbeaten start to the new campaign, Kane was asked by Sky Sports if he was proud of equalling the record: “Of course I’m proud of it. A lot of hard work and dedication has made me get to where I am now but of course, it never stops and there is always another game and the next one that you look forward to.

“As always, I give thanks to the team and the staff with regards to helping me to get to where I am and let’s keep it going.”

Despite his goal against Fulham, Kane once again showed his worth as a complete player with a performance that saw him cover every blade of grass as he continues to drop deep to look to create other opportunities for other players.

It begs the question, that if Tottenham had a true playmaker in their side and allowed Kane to focus purely on putting the ball in the back of the net, how many goals would he have scored by now?
