Eric Dier has predicted that the North London Derby this week could provide the best atmosphere the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has seen in its few years of existence.

Tottenham go into the game knowing that a win is needed to close the gap to Arsenal down to just one point. Meanwhile, the Gunners know a win for them would mathematically guarantee a top four finish this season.

Of course, the North London Derby in N17 was originally supposed to be played in January, before Arsenal requested for it to be postponed due to a lack of squad players.

Dier refused to be drawn into whether there will be extra spice in the fixture due to this controversial rearrangement, but insisted it is set to be a ‘great game’ due to the stakes at play.

The two North London sides have been intertwined in a dramatic top four race over the past month, with plenty of twists and turns along the way.

Dier said (Football London): “It’s going to be a great game. A north London derby with both teams fighting for the Champions League.

“I’m sure the atmosphere is going to be fantastic. It might be the best we’ve seen at the new stadium so I’m really excited about that and hopefully, we can give them a performance to match that.

“In our hands or not, all we can do is focus on ourselves and be prepared for the game. In the Premier League things literally change game to game.

“You know things change all the time. There’s still so much football to be played. We have to continue in this way, focus on ourselves, prepare in the best possible way for this game and finish the season strongly.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Whether Tottenham win or lose, you just get the feeling that Conte has improved the mentality around the club. I’m far more confident these days that if Tottenham lose, it will be down to being the second best team on the day, not a case of nerves.
