‘I’m still shaking’ – Troy Parrott reacts to the best moment of his young career

Tottenham striker Troy Parrott has called his late winner for the Republic of Ireland against Lithuania the best moment of his career so far.

Parrott, who has been impressing on loan at MK Dons this term, scored the only goal of the encounter at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday night.

Ireland manager Stephen Kenny handed the 20-year-old a place on the bench to start the game, but called him into action in place of Wigan’s Will Keane on 63 minutes.

And Parrott made the change count in the seventh minute of second-half stoppage time as he fired a powerful drive past Dziugas Bartkus from the edge of the penalty area.

The Spurs talent was quizzed on whether the last-gasp strike was the best moment of his young career, to which he concurred without hesitation.

He said (via the Independent): “By far. By far. To score the winner that late in front of the home fans maybe a mile or so away from my house was honestly incredible.

“I’m still shaking now. It was honestly one of the best feelings I’ve ever had in my life. It felt like the ball was never going to come down. I had to take two touches before I could get the shot off, but yes, I’m over the moon.”

This should give Parrott a massive boost in confidence heading into the final stretch of the campaign, especially as he has endured a positive spell of recent form for MK Dons.

If he continues his upward trajectory, it will give Tottenham something to think about regarding what the plan to do with him for the new season.

Dane Scarlett remains in the first-team squad while Kion Etete has impressed during two separate loan spells this term, so he has plenty of competition alongside him.
