‘I’m sure Harry is happy’ – Conte opens up on Kane’s form and lack of goals

Antonio Conte has insisted that he is very happy with the way Harry Kane is playing for Tottenham, despite the lack of goals in the Premier League.

The England captain once again led the line for Spurs last night against Brentford, with Conte’s men earning a comfortable 2-0 victory in North London.

Kane had one golden chance in the game but placed his left-footed effort straight at the Brentford goalkeeper and behind for a corner.

However, the striker’s all-around play was eye-catching at times, especially during the build-up to Tottenham’s second goal when he played the perfect pass into the path of Sergio Reguilon.

Kane also played a beauty of a volleyed pass to get Emerson Royal in behind on the other wing, as well as showcasing some good hold-up play.

Conte insisted that he and Kane are happy as long as Tottenham are winning, but the head coach is sure the goals will return for him soon.

He said (Football London): “First of all, I’m sure Harry is happy if we win and he doesn’t score. Because Tottenham is the first thought for us and Harry.

“As I said yesterday, Harry played a very good game, he was in the situation that we scored and he had a good chance to score.

“Important to have chances to score and we’re improving a lot in this aspect. I’m sure Harry is going to score many goals. I’m sure he’s going to have a good performance in the same way he had against Brentford against every team we play.

“I’m very pleased for the way that he’s playing. Then I know the striker wants to score but we want to give him many chances to score. I think we’re on the right path to do this type of situation.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Too much focus is being placed on Kane not scoring. As long as he is playing well, the team are winning games, and goals are coming from other sources, I am happy. Trust me, the goals will return in abundance for Kane in no time at all.
