‘I’m sure’ – Journalist predicts coach will return to manage Spurs one day

Football.London reporter Rob Guest has said that he is sure that Ryan Mason will be the full-time head coach of Tottenham Hotspur one day, although it might not happen this summer.

A whole host of names have been put forward over the last 90 days as potential replacements for Antonio Conte but we appear to be no closer to learning who will get the job.

In fact, Julian Nagelsmann, who seemed to be Tottenham’s top target for the role until Friday (Daily Mail), no longer appears to be in the running for the role (Evening Standard).

There has not been much to suggest that Mason is being seriously considered for the role but the former Spurs midfielder has repeatedly insisted that he feels ready for the responsibility, pointing out that he knows the culture and the identity of the club better than most (Football.London).

Guest believes that it is inevitable that Mason will be in charge of his boyhood club one day.

The journalist said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: ” All Mason can do is to try and win these games, get Tottenham into the Europa League and then see what happens.

“He has a good future ahead of him, he has a really good future ahead of him.

“I’m sure that one day he will be the Tottenham boss, but whether or not it’s from August onwards? I can’t see it.”

Spurs Web Opinion

You can never be sure with anything in football management as it is such a precarious profession, where the overwhelming majority fail.

You might be the most promising young coach in the world but you could suddenly find yourself unemployable at the top level if your team has one bad season due to circumstances not entirely in your control.

So, while Mason has certainly shown plenty of promise, he would have to be smart in the jobs he picks if he is to work his way up to the Premier League and become a legitimate contender for the Spurs hot seat one day.
