‘I’m told’ – Journalist reveals what he has heard about Spurs and Tariq Lamptey

Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has revealed that Tottenham are not looking to snap up Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey this month.

A new right wing-back is reportedly one of Antonio Conte’s priorities in this month’s transfer window.

Lamptey, who was linked with a move to Tottenham last summer, is alleged to be one of the right-backs on the club’s radar.

The Chelsea academy graduate was previously thought to be valued at around £50m by the Seagulls.

However, over recent days, Adama Traore has emerged as Tottenham’s top target, with Antonio Conte said to be intent on converting the Wolves winger into a right wing-back.

Wolves manager Bruno Lage has reportedly given the green light for Traore to be sold, with Spurs allegedly looking to sign the Spaniard on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy him in the summer.

Thomas has now revealed that while Tottenham did previously hold an interest in Lamptey, the Brighton man is not a target for the North London club at the moment.

The journalist said on Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel: “Tottenham have had an interest in Tariq Lamptey long-term, as a lot of clubs have done. Not at the moment though I’m told.

“I’ve asked about him in the last few days and I was told that this interest is in the past and it’s not something that anybody is really aware of right now.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems fairly evident now that Traore is the player that Spurs want as a right wing-back. Despite the Spaniard’s obvious shortcomings, I am excited to see how he will improve under Conte if Tottenham do indeed push through a move for the 25-year-old over the next two weeks.
