‘I’m very lucky’ – Conte heaps praise on Kane but calls the Spurs star to improve

Antonio Conte has admitted he is privileged to work with a player of Harry Kane’s quality and says he sets a bar for other players to try and reach.

Kane had struggled to hit form before Conte’s arrival at Tottenham, but he has since produced his best displays of the season having scored seven goals in his last eight appearances (TransferMarkt).

After netting twice in Tottenham’s 5-0 thrashing of Everton, the 28-year-old admitted the Italian has added ‘more strings to his bow’ in terms of his repertoire, while he is mentally and physically in a strong position (Football London).

And Conte believes he is fortunate to have the chance to manage a player of Kane’s calibre, but insisted there is still room for the England captain to improve.

He said (via Football.London): “I think that every single player you have space to improve. Every player is lucky to have this opportunity because during your career you can have many experiences and improve your baggage.

“About Harry, we are talking about a world-class striker. I’m very lucky to have a player like him. We’re talking about a fantastic player but also a fantastic person. He’s always available, he’s an example to the other players.”

Despite having a record of one goal in 13 Premier League games to start the season, Kane has since moved up to 10 goals in the top-flight (Transfermarkt).

His goals of late have kept Spurs in the hunt for a Champions League spot at the end of the campaign, with Conte’s men sitting just three points off Arsenal in fourth.

Spurs Web Opinion

Kane’s recent form has been stunning and the reason why Spurs have managed to secure their wins of late.

He did start the season very slowly, but has seen his level elevate since Conte’s appointment in November and has been the chief creator and finisher in the side.

Hopefully, he will be able to continue that form heading into the final stretch of the campaign to secure Spurs end the season on a strong note.
