‘I’m worried’ – Paul Merson makes score prediction for Spurs vs Man United

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has predicted Tottenham Hotspur will lose to Manchester United this evening, and also thinks Harry Kane will leave the club in the summer.

Tottenham’s season has been going from bad to worse of late. The latest defeat, a 6-1 hammering at the hands of Newcastle United, was a new low and saw interim manager Cristian Stellini lose his job.

The result and the embarrassing performance that accompanied it has left Tottenham with almost no hope of finishing in the top four this season, meaning there will likely be no Champions League football next year.

It’s also been yet another season where the club has been left empty-handed when it comes to trophies, after crashing out of all domestic and European competitions.

The next task is a home tie against top-four rivals Manchester United, but Merson does not believe Spurs can get anything from the game on Thursday evening.

He also believes the state of affairs at the club will have helped Kane make his mind up about his future.

He told SportsKeeda: “The defeat against Newcastle will have probably made Harry Kane’s mind up. I don’t see how he stays at the club after that.

“That was a big game, and a chance to close the gap and get into the Champions League. I always thought Kane would stay at Tottenham, but that defeat would’ve been the last straw.

“I’m worried that Tottenham don’t have a manager, and I don’t see how they can come back from their defeat against Newcastle.

“Man United will have too much for them on the counter and should be able to win this game.”

Merson’s prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Manchester United.

Spurs Web Opinion

You could see just how disappointed and exasperated Harry Kane was on Sunday, and I would not be surprised if that was the final straw for him.

Sadly, I don’t see things getting any better in general either, and I do think United will beat us on Thursday.
