Tottenham Hotspur have now officially announced Giovani Lo Celso has joined the club from Real Betis on deadline day.
This transfer is certainly one that is long in the making, as Spurs offered £53m for him way back at the start of the window in May (BBC).
Lo Celso joins Spurs on loan for the season with an option to buy at the end of the campaign.
The Guardian reported yesterday that a fee of £55m had been agreed between the two clubs.
All those months just for the sake of £2m?
Welcome to the club, Giovani!
We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement for the season-long loan signing of @LoCelsoGiovani from @RealBetis with an option to make the transfer permanent. #HolaLoCelso ⚪️ #COYS https://t.co/fGEHrQiq8D
