Photo: Troy Parrott takes to social media after Colchester defeat

It should have been a memorable night for young Troy Parrott as the teenager was awarded his full debut for Spurs against Colchester yesterday.

The 17-year-old was named in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven for the Carabao Cup tie as one of ten changes from the side that lost to Leicester City at the weekend.

While it was no doubt a proud moment for the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international, it was an evening to forget for the players following the humiliating exit at the hands of the League Two opposition.

The Irishman looked lively in the opening 20 minutes and had a couple of half-chances, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Tottenham went on the lose the match in embarrassing fashion, with Colchester being the lowest-ranked side left in the competition.

Parrott has since taken to social media to reassure fans that he and the lads are determined to bounce back from the shock cup exit.
