Some Tottenham fans on social media have laughed off reports that the club are monitoring Sergio Ramos’ situation at Real Madrid ahead of the January transfer window.

This is not the first time that the rumour has surfaced with 90min.com reporting last month that Tottenham had reached out to Ramos’ representatives about a potential move in January.

The legendary defender is currently in the final year of his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu and has not been able to reach an agreement with the club over a new deal as of yet.

The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, who is usually a reliable source on all things Tottenham, has now reported that Ramos is one of two central defenders Spurs are looking at along with Milan Skriniar with Jose Mourinho keen to strengthen his backline.

Some Spurs fans refused to believe that a deal for Ramos would be possible, particularly since the defender had a falling out with Mourinho when the Portuguese coach was in charge of Real Madrid (Goal).

However, that did not stop others from dreaming about the 34-year-old potentially signing for the Lilywhites.

It is very much possible that this news is being fed by Ramos’ entourage in order to land a lucrative contract at Madrid. However, Kilpatrick is usually a reliable source and so Mourinho may have told the club to explore the possibility of signing the World Cup winner.
