Gabriel Agbonlahor is confident that neither Tottenham Hotspur nor their North London rivals, Arsenal, have a chance of finishing in the top-four this season.
Coming into the campaign, Tottenham have not been given any chance of achieving a top-four finish by most pundits, with most tipping the two Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Liverpool to secure Champions League qualification.
Given the investment the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City have made over the summer, it is perhaps not a surprise that Tottenham are viewed as outsiders despite managing to keep hold of Harry Kane.
However, the Lilywhites made a strong start to the season under Nuno Espirito Santo, winning their first three matches without conceding a single goal until the 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace yesterday.
Despite what he has seen from Nuno’s men so far, Agbonlahor admitted even before the Palace loss that he does not expect Tottenham to challenge for fourth place this season.
When asked whether Spurs and Arsenal can aim for a top-four finish, the former Aston Villa striker told talkSPORT: “Yeah, I think it’s impossible for both teams, Spurs have started well, but the top four is the top four.
“Manchester City, United, Liverpool and Chelsea will be the top four. But Spurs, I think Spurs will finish higher than Arsenal.”

I think a fifth-place finish will be considered a relatively successful season by Spurs fans, particularly given everything that went on during the summer. This is the first time since the early Pochettino days that not achieving a top-four finish will not be viewed as a failure. So, the pressure is off to an extent on Nuno and the players this season.
