Stat shows why Tottenham cannot afford to take Olympiacos lightly

The 4-0 demolishing of Crystal Palace came at the right time for Spurs as they enter a busy period of the season.

The performance would have given the Lilywhites much needed confidence as they begin their Champions League campaign at Olympiacos on Wednesday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men will try to go one step further than last year when they finished runners up and have been drawn in a tricky group which contains Bayern Munich, Olympiacos, and Red Star Belgrade.

While the games against Bayern will be the big test, the away matches against the other two teams certainly won’t be walkovers.

In fact, Olympiacos have made a fantastic start to the season and have a 100% record in the Greek Super League. They will come into the game full of belief having smashed Volos 5-0 on Sunday.

The Greek giants are also yet to concede a goal this season which suggests that Tottenham have to work hard to break them down.

Spurs Web Opinion

Olympiacos have caused their fair share of upsets at home in the Champions League over the last few years and so it will be a tough match. If Tottenham end up losing the game, then they could quickly find themselves with a lot of work to do to qualify from the group given that their second game will be against Bayern. So it is vital that Spurs start the campaign with 3 points on Wednesday.
