‘In all respect’ – Man Utd boss Rangnick takes confident dig at recent Spurs losses

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has insisted his side should be able to beat Tottenham if they are at their best, given that Antonio Conte’s men have lost to the likes of Middlesbrough, Burnley and Wolverhampton over recent weeks.

The clash at Old Trafford looks set to be a six-pointer in the race for a top-four finish, with both clubs needing three points to close the gap on Arsenal.

United will be keen to get back to winning ways at home after being thrashed in the Manchester derby at the Etihad last week.

Spurs have not been able to string two wins together over recent weeks and will be looking to replicate the performance they put it when they went up to Manchester to take on City last month.

Rangnick has said that he is fully aware of the threat posed by the Lilywhites but insisted his side should be able to get all three points if they are at their best.

The German told Man Utd’s official website: “[They play] with a back three and it is a very compact shape. They are probably one of the best teams in transitional moments with Heung Min-Son and Harry Kane.

“This is what we have to be aware of and prepared for, to not give them those transitional moments. But at the same time they also lost against teams like Middlesbrough, Wolves and Burnley.

“It’s not a team who, if we play at the best possible level, it’s not impossible to beat them. In all respect, if Middlesbrough, Burnley and Wolverhampton can beat them, we can also beat them in our own stadium and this is what we have to do, this is our job tomorrow.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Conte will be hoping that Ragnick sets United up to press high up the pitch so that the likes of Kane and Son get space to run in behind the Red Devils backline. United have not tended to take a cautious approach under Rangnick, particularly at home. So, I am confident about our chances of hurting them on the counter-attack.
