In Focus: Hugo Lloris

What a shame that Hugo Lloris couldn’t get his clean sheet tonight, because the Frenchman didn’t half deserve it.

The score line reads 3-1, and Tottenham played pretty well against the Saints, but in truth Southampton did have their chances.

The boys from the South coast hit the woodwork three times and pulled a number of world class stops from Hugo Lloris.

One of these saves actually saw the World Cup winner somehow soar through the air to get the slightest of fingertips on one long range blast, just edging the ball onto the post.

Another standout moment came in the second half when Hugo made an astounding double save, including a point blank rebound stop.

It was nice to see the Tottenham captain back to his very best for the first time in a long while.

Lloris has put in a number of good performances in recent weeks, but this was his first world class, man of the match contender type match since his drink driving incident.

The only dampener was Austin’s 93rd minute strike, a goal Lloris could realistically do little about.
