In Focus: Jan Vertonghen against Borussia Dortmund

Tottenham Hotspur ran rampant in the second half tonight after a fairly flat first 45, smashing three goals past Borussia Dortmund in one of their best performances of the season.

And, in a game in which Spurs scored three, it is actually a defender who earned the plaudits with a man of the match performance.

Jan Vertonghen encapsulated the Spurs victory tonight, as he stormed up and down that left hand side as if he were Marcello in his prime.

Vertonghen managed to keep Sancho quiet in the second half, while also getting to the by-line himself and whipping in some devilish crosses.

Jan managed to deliver a pinpoint cross for the opening Spurs goal, brilliantly cushioned home by Son.

Not content with being merely a provider, Jan then got in the box himself, volleying a goal of his own past the Dortmund keeper.

Tackles. Interceptions. Turnovers. Great passing. Rampaging runs. Pinpoint crosses. One brilliant finish. Jan Vertonghen was Super this evening.
