In Focus: Juan Foyth

Tottenham inched past a tough Crystal Palace team this evening, with young Juan Foyth grabbing the vital match-winning goal in the second half.

Foyth was called up to the starting line up after Sanchez suffered a hamstring injury this week.

During his Premier League debut against Wolves, Foyth performed impressively, but gave away two penalties to hand the opposition a lifeline in the game.

In the opening five or ten minutes this evening, it looked as if these penalties were at the forefront of Foyth’s mind.

However, he put his mistakes behind him, learned from them, and put in a dominant defensive display for the remainder of the game.

The young Argentine is comfortable on the ball and can bring it out into midfield with ease, as well as having the pace to follow attackers in behind.

Not only this, but after Kane’s powerful header was blocked, Foyth was the first to react, happily nodding it home into an open net.

The Tottenham lads instantly surrounded the young man who has had a tough week. It’s clear to see what he means to the rest of the squad.

You can see why Poch has such faith in him though, as well as Argentina who have called him up to their last two national squads.
