In focus: Lucas Moura’s man of the match performance against Ajax

Tottenham Hotspur came from behind in one of the great Champions League comebacks last night in Amsterdam to book their place in the final.

Despite it being a fantastic all-around performance from the Tottenham team, one man stands heads and shoulders above the rest in terms of claim to the man of the match award.

Lucas Moura has been in and out of the Tottenham first team this season, but has secured a more regular spot of late thanks to the injury to Harry Kane.

Even the little Brazilian probably though his season had peaked with his hat-trick against Huddersfield in the Premier League, but it wasn’t to be.

2-0 down at half time and 3-0 down on aggregate, Lucas Moura looked to provide Spurs with a slim lifeline after 55 minutes, as he motored onto a Dele Alli ball and slotted home calmly.

However, a lifeline turned into a real possibility just four minutes later, as Fernando Llorente somehow missed from two yards out, only for the ball to be turned in by Moura after some neat footwork.

Spurs knocked on the door and rode their luck for the next 30 minutes, but after Jan Vertonghen missed a key chance to win the game, it looked as if Tottenham’s dream had come and gone.

However, 96 minutes into the match, in the dying seconds, Moura was threaded in behind by Alli again, and the result was the same.

Moura had sent Tottenham through to their first final by the skin of their teeth.

A 10/10 man of the match performance by the Brazilian.
