In Focus: Moussa Sissoko – player of the season

All the talk of late has been about Heung Min Son and whether he will make the top six shortlist for player of the season.

However, one man who is still severely overlooked and underrated by many is Moussa Sissoko.

The Frenchman’s performance today encapsulated his season perfectly. He was strong, fast, won the ball high up the pitch, and offered a real threat going forward. He is the driving force that Tottenham so badly needed after Dembele’s exit, albeit with the same shooting ability.

Moussa rightly received a standing ovation from the Tottenham faithful as he left the pitch early today, presumably to keep him fresh for the Manchester City game.

Sissoko is a true summary of the term ‘utility player’ as he can perform with maximum effort in a variety of positions, from midfield, to right wing, to right back.

It seems strange to think that a player, who a year ago was one of the biggest flops in Spurs transfer history, has now become one of the very best this season.

For me, he should be Tottenham’s player of the season, as he offers so much on so many different levels for his team.
