In Focus: The team performance

Tottenham Hotspur worked so hard over the Christmas period to claw their way into the title challenge, only to significantly dent their hopes with a lacklustre performance today.

Spurs led Wolves by one goal to nil at half time after a largely impressive 45 minutes, but came out in their second half with a completely different attitude.

It seemed as Pochettino’s men tired, or took their foot off the pedal, or just came at the second half with completely the wrong attitude.

Quick and direct passing turned into sloppy losses of possession. The pace and trickery disappeared. And the tight and compact defensive lines collapsed under Wolves pressure.

The amazing run of form had to end some time, but it was a frustrating performance from the Spurs boys today, and not one they will be happy with at all.

Tottenham will have to pick up their form and rely on other teams if they are to keep up with Liverpool and City over the next few weeks.
