‘In the coming days’ – Fabrizio Romano provides update on Fraser Forster latest

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have now completed all the paperwork to sign Fraser Forster as a free transfer.

Spurs announced their capture of Ivan Perisic this week, with the Croat penning a two-year deal with the club, with an option of a further 12-month extension (The Times).

Forster is another player who is available on a free transfer, with the goalkeeper’s current deal with Southampton running out at the end of June.

Football Insider reported last week that Spurs have ‘wrapped’ up the signing of the 34-year-old and that the goalkeeper had agreed to take a wage cut on the £100,000-a-week that he is earning with the Saints.

However, Alasdair Gold subsequently revealed on his YouTube Channel (starting at 24:36) that Spurs may not announce the England international until July.

This has now been contradicted by Romano, who has taken to social media to reveal that Forster has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Tottenham.

The journalist claimed that the North London club will announce the goalkeeper’s capture over the coming days.

Whether or not we make the announcement over the next few days or in July, it seems like we do have Forster’s signing wrapped up. It is another smart acquisition from the club, given that the goalkeeper has plenty of Premier League experience and is homegrown.
