Speaking to the press ahead of the weekend’s game against Manchester United, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou suggested Radu Dragusin should be in the squad for the match, as long as his work permit progresses without a hitch.
After a rollercoaster ride of a transfer saga, Tottenham finally won the race to sign Radu Dragusin this week, thus solving the lack of depth in the central defensive area for Ange Postecoglou‘s side.
At one stage, it seemed Spurs could miss out on their top target, with Bayern Munich also in the hunt for Dragusin. But, in the end, the Romanian chose the Lilywhites after he felt more wanted by the club and Postecoglou (GSP via Sport Witness).
All eyes will be on Tottenham this weekend, and in particular the centre of defence. Micky van de Ven is due back from injury after missing out on the last two months with a hamstring strain, but Cristian Romero is thought to be unlikely to feature.
That leaves a space open for Dragusin to make his much-anticipated debut for Spurs on Sunday against Manchester United, but there is still the small matter of his work permit to be resolved before he can be cleared to play.
Will Dragusin play against Manchester United?
In his latest press conference (via Football.London), Postecoglou was asked if Dragusin will be ready for the game at Old Trafford, and seemed confident he will be allowed to play the 21-year-old.
He said: “From what I’m told it shouldn’t be a problem. If all the relevant paperwork comes through he’ll be in the squad.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I can’t see any issues holding up this work permit application, so Dragusin should be good to go on Sunday. I do wonder whether Ange will prefer to partner van de Ven with Emerson Royal, though, just to maintain a little bit of stability, rather than pairing a new signing with a freshly recovered player.
